Village Hall

Whitchurch-on-Thames Village Hall has been recently refurbished and has a well-equipped kitchen, a stage and Wi-Fi. It can be set up for meetings, classes and special events. For a special event, such as a birthday party, the team will be happy to work with you to ensure your needs are met and help make sure it is a success.

There is also a separate small meeting room and the hall has its own car park.

Layout and Facilities

The Hall was renovated in 2020 and offers flexible and attractive facilities:-

  • The main hall (9.8m x 5.6m) is perfect for events, clubs, fitness classes and meetings. It can be set up for events of up to 60 people sitting down banqueting style or up to 100 maximum standing up or seated in rows. The main hall has a stage with lighting and PA equipment.
  • A small meeting room (3.9m x 5.6m) for smaller private and/or confidential meetings or seminars (up 12 maximum)
  • A fully-functional kitchen with a large fridge, a separate freezer, a convection oven and a microwave, an electric hob and a hot cupboard plate warmer - a large one on wheels. Crockery, glasses and cutlery are provided for up to 60 people, allowing for any catering you require.

Free, fast, full fibre broadband and Wi-Fi is available. We provide high-quality tables and chairs. The private car park next to the Hall has parking for 10 cars.

There is a PA system for hire (Mackie SRM 450s with stands, a mixer and microphone) and this can be set up for you.

There is also a DLP projector and screen for hire. Tables, chairs, glasses, crockery and cutlery can be hired for outside events.

Hire Rates and Conditions for the Village Hall

The hire rates for the hall and facilities are here.

If it’s the first time you have hired the hall, we may ask for a £50 deposit. Please ensure you have booked enough time to set up at the beginning and for clearing up after your event.

Please see the Terms and Conditions of Hire When hiring the hall, you must take responsibility for evacuating the hall in case of fire, so you will also need to see the Fire Evacuation Procedure. If you have not hired the hall before, the Events Manager will contact you and will cover safety and other arrangements to help ensure your event is a success.

The hall has liability insurance and is regularly tested for fire safety, electoral safety, etc.

Local Emergency Plan

The hall is designated as the Place of Safety in the village Local Emergency Plan. As well as being a place to meet, the hall provides an emergency telephone and Wi-Fi, both of which will continue to work during a power cut. The hall also has a small emergency generator to charge phones and laptops and provide lighting in case of a long power cut.
