I'm looking to move within the village and would love to hear from anyone wishing to rent out their 1+ bed property as I'm being forced to leave my current home. I'm a very keen gardener (and an aquatic designer by profession) so particularly keen for some outside space too. Many thanks. Nev.

We have a 14ft trampoline for sale. Very good condition, we've had it for a year but it's barely been used. Half of one of the sponges is missing from one of the poles but other than that it's in good working order. There are no rips or tears.

Having spent the last 26 years raising our 5 boys in this lovely village we have decided that we need to downsize in preparation for our next adventure. As a result we are selling our 5 bedroom house (Lynches Lodge) at the top of the village, opposite the Thames footpath entrance. If you know of anyone who might be interested we would greatly appreciate if you would pass on our contact details.

The Ferryboat - good news! My contact at Star Pubs has emailed to say that "We have a new tenant for site and he will be reopening soon. Given the length of time the site has been shut it may take a while to get the offer up and running in full but its definitely on its way all going well."

What’s happening at The Ferryboat? My contact at Star Pubs says they are “doing work in preparation to re-trade the site”. I’m not quite sure what this means, but it must be good that the building is getting some attention and that they see it as an asset that needs to be maintained.

Do you have a (piano) keyboard you no longer need? I’m teaching piano to a very sweet little Ukrainian girl. She is doing brilliantly in lessons and making great progress despite the language difference. Unfortunately, though, she’s not able to practise as she doesn’t have a keyboard at home (and there’s no room for a real piano). Does anyone have a keyboard they no longer use that they’d be willing to donate? Ideally this would be 88 weighted (and working!) keys with a stand, stool and pedal, but the keyboard itself is the most important thing. I realise this is a lot to ask but the last thing I want to do is lumber her with something that makes learning more difficult and creates bad posture habits, etc. Thank you!

Please could anyone advise if there will be a Remembrance Parade on Sunday 13th in Pangbourne? There are signs up in Reading Road saying the road will be closed 2-4pm but I cant find any other information. It was the same in past years before Covid. Dear Karen, This is from the Pangbourne Parish Clerk: Details are on our social media and website link But in short it’s back to the old pre pandemic routine - 2.20pm congregate at the police station, parade to St James The Less for laying of wreaths and 3pm service. During the service, the roads re-open. This is followed by a short parade back to the George just before 4pm where the parade falls out. The road closures are “rolling“, as the parade passes through which means only ten to fifteen minutes at any one place/time with the longest closure by the church for the laying of wreaths. The parade will pass through the village centre quite quickly, which means Whitchurch residents can come through from the bridge and turn right along station road towards Goring at the village hall or left towards Reading along the Reading Road. Coming from /to the Tidmarsh Road direction, they can go around the diversion/back ie via Green Lane /Pangbourne Hill and Upper Basildon if necessary . There will be marshals on all routes to stop traffic and advise but as I say, traffic will be held for 15-20 mins max at the church and shorter elsewhere.

Does anyone know whether access to (and exit from) the Stables Room opposite the Ferryboat will be possible from the toll bridge tomorrow (Friday) between 9:30 and 12:30? WoTjam (Whitchurch-on-Thames Jazz group) meets there on Friday mornings. If Thames Water's repairs continue tomorrow I assume access from the Whitchurch Hill end is a definite no-go.

Following the arbirtrary closure of Hardwick Road and the High Street this morning, I called SODC Highways to find out how long this situation would last. According to them, this has been done by Thames Water to fix an"emergency leak" situated between the Art Gallery and the Narrows. The closure is scheduled to last from 09:00 a.m. Thursday to 3:30 pm on Friday. I also complained in the strongest terms about the very uncouth and dictatorial behaviour of the employee of Shift Traffic Management Services who are apparently managing (ha!) the road closure for Thames Water. I explained that everyone understood that on occasions roads had to be closed but there was no need for his arrogant, rude and aggressive behaviour towards residents and road users who simply wanted to know what was going on.

Is there any plan for the PC to arrange (say) one day a week for the older folk in our village to have an afternoon is the Village Hall to provide a warm environment with some villagers? Appreciate that the Art Cafe (see below) does this already but just wondering if this is on their radar?

Please can the person who took our folding wooden table from outside the front of our house (The Old Farmhouse on Hardwick Road) return it please? The marrow was free (thank you for taking it!) but the table it was on was NOT! The sign said that the table was not free to a good home but you obviously didn't read this properly. Thank you.

Some time ago I spoke with a neighbour and offered our son's balance bike for their daughter to use (Ava, I think). They very kindly left a note with their details the next day that I have stupidly lost so have not been able to contact them. Just to say that the bike is still available and we would be glad if they could use it!

Regrettably we have had to return our rescue dog, Krystal, to the Trust. I could not overcome her previous use as a guard dog, possibly tethered. She enjoyed her time with us, particularly the freedom but, perhaps, not the daily walking! So, once again, I need to search for a direct replacement for Molly. Please let me know if you know of a suitable Labrador requiring a happy home and some daily exercise!

Caroline, Thank you for your interest and offer of help in my locating another dog as a replacement for Molly. As you know we now have Sindy, an 8 years old chocolate coloured Labrador bitch, who is gradually being introduced to the village, the villagers, their dogs and our footpath network. She is very nervous and unused to the freedom now allowed - she is still likely to escape (usually the Village Green) but, as yet, is unused to traffic. Eric

4 Cars had their tyres slashed last night in Hardwick Road. There was also a reported incident of an intruder in a garden in the area at 01:20 where the police were quickly in attendance. If these two incidents are linked (theres no direct link at the moment but it is a coincidence) we should be very cautious approaching anyone causing criminal damage or loitering with possible intent. If anyone has CCTV of suspicious individuals in the area from around midnight to 2am please let me or the police know.

The plane on Monday 4th July was a single wing plane which I believe came from Blackbushe, and not the usual yellow biplane from White Waltham. I didn’t see the one yesterday (Tuesday 5th). If the Blackbushe plane comes back I’ll get on to them. If any clever photographer can take a time stamped picture of an aerobatic plane above us showing its number please email it to me and I’ll use it to approach the airport concerned.

We have had the catalytic converter stolen off our car whilst parked in a large car park at Legoland. Our garage said it had been sawn off at each end. Wise after the event we have had a lock fitted. If I had known about this type of theft, I would have fitted a lock. If you have a hybrid car it might be worth getting a lock and avoid an expensive bill - apparently hybrids are targeted.

A huge Thank You to everyone who helped with the organisation, setting-up, decorations, and catering, for the village tea-party yesterday afternoon. It was so great to see everyone from the community come together for the Jubilee tea on Sunday. This was the main objective from my perspective. I’d just like to thank a few key people who were instrumental in making this happen, especially our Clerk Jane Yamamoto who organised the event overall, which included securing the marquees from Hempen at Hardwick Estate along with James Norman. It was also great to have village newcomer Nicola Armstrong to coordinate the pre-school contributions. Also thanks to Cormac Neeson for giving us access to power at the pavilion. Rev James Leach and the church also encouraged parishioners to join. And finally, I thought that the Roy Bailey Big Band did an excellent job and helped make it a very festive and memorable event!

Hi folks. Has anyone moved to Airband FTTP since it was installed in Hardwick Road? What speeds are you getting? Is the service reliable? Have you had to use customer services (not just sales!), and are they helpful and efficient? Do they have a monopoly on Hardwick Road, and, if so, any idea when this runs out? I'm tempted by the idea of high speeds, but Airband has had terrible reviews (they have already cut us off twice for days on end with their clumsy cabling work), and I'm a very happy customer of Zen who doesn't want to change supplier. Very grateful for any info :)

I registered an interest in Airband on Hardwick Road, and just got this update: As part of our ongoing commitment to keep you informed of the progress of the ultrafast broadband network build in your area, we have another update for you. We are now working on our last round of civil works, aiming to complete building this network early in July, with installs following 4-6 weeks after that. As always, if you have questions feel free to ask them in a reply to this email. Best regards, The Airband Team

This afternoon my dog was attacked by two border terriers loose with no owner on the hardslock bridleway/Thames path by the entrance to half moon house. Does anyone know who these dogs might belong to before they come to harm on the road or set upon someone else’s dog?

Saw a 'road closure' sign in Pangbourne earlier, and as best as I could read it as I drove by I think it said 'May 28 and 29'. Does anyone know more about these proposed works, e,g. full closure or delays, and precise location?

Hi Susanna, I understand that you pay £30 for the card, its already topped up with £20 worth of crossings. You buy it from the toll booth. The toll booth give you an envelope with a form to complete and return later and the topped up card is in the envelope. There are different types of card too, some for constant crossings. You would be best to speak to the toll booth staff, they are very helpful. Ive had a card for 17 years and its so much easier than the paper vouchers we used to buy. Hope this helps.

Please can you tell me how I go about getting a bridge card and if I can do that online. Also how much is it and is it an annual or monthly charge? I am moving to Woodcote to live there on 6th May and will be using the bridge daily. THank you

You need to buy it at the toll bridge. It’s £5 for the card (which you get back if you ever need to return it), then you top it up with £20 at a time which I believe now buys you 57 crossings or some similar slightly random number. The staff at the toll booth will be able to explain all

Cards can be purchased for £20 which are refundable. You will then need to top up £20. (£40) first purchase. £20 gives you 47 crossings. Payment is by cash or card. If you use it over 4x per day the rest of your crossings are free for that day only. Ask at the toll bridge for more information

Hi Susanna The bridge cards are £30 and purchased from the toll booth (cash or card) The card has 47 crossings on and there’s also a registration form to fill out after purchase - this ensures you don’t loose your crossings if you loose your bridge card We don’t do a monthly payment anymore but when your bridge card runs low you can top up at the toll booth for £20 and that gives you 47 crossings Using a bridge card is much easier, quicker and also cheaper. However we are currently out of stock but I’m waiting on a delivery Hope that answers all your questions but feel free to contact me if you need more info

Is anyone looking for support for an elderly relative? I would like to recommend a wonderful lady and experienced carer called Katy, who lives in Whitchurch. She used to visit my father 3 or 4 times a week and went above and beyond to offer all aspects of care and companionship, including personal care, housework, the washing and ironing, some cooking, taking him home-made treats, accompanying him to appointments, checking on his well-being with phone calls and emails and much more. She is now available to take on a similar role with a new client. If you would like to know more, please contact Katy direct on 07917 712158.

Good morning, Pangbourne Playgroup are hosting a duck race ( plastic not live ! ) at Pangbourne fête on 18th June. In the interests of the environment we would much prefer to borrow rather than buy the plastic ducks. If anyone has ever done a similar thing and has some spare plastic ducks they are willing to let us use, we would be very interested to hear from you. Many thanks on behalf of Pangbourne Playgroup.

Hi everyone. I’m wondering if someone could recommend a company that hires our Canadian style canoes? I’ve tried the adventure dolphin who don’t offer this, and also “ultimate Canoe and kayak hire” who say they work out of Pangbourne but never reply to my enquiries. If anyone has any local recommendations I’d be very grateful. Thanks, Alexa

Is anyone else experiencing a massive drop in internet speed? I’m on Hardwick Road and saw phone engineers working down a manhole opposite on Friday. While they were there the internet dropped out and when it came back on our speeds had plummeted from 40mpps (which we’ve had consistently for years) to 5mpps. My supplier (Zen) says it dropped on 6 April (Weds) - were the engineers fixing a previously reported fault, or have they caused it? Is anyone experiencing the same crash, and is it Airband doing the work again? Seems a bit of a coincidence.

We're getting our usual 74 Mbps, in the High Street on copper wires from the box opposite the Greyhound, with BTinternet. So I don't think it's a general village/exchange issue.

In addition to the speed, its very spotty, continuously dropping out. Makes for interesting zoom calls, but is getting more stable as of yesterday. As a rule of thumb when I see a engineer at the green box opposite the greyhound, I pencil in 3 days of poor performance.
