The Polish Church Garden
Tucked away in a corner of Whitchurch there is a memorial garden, reminding us that there was a refugee camp in the village after the second world war and that the refugees, mainly Poles, built a church here.
There is a current project to rejuvenate the garden and create a memorial area for the church which has received Heritage Funding.
Here is some background information about the garden:-
- Anna recalls her life in the refugee community
- Peter talks about the history of the camp
- Andrew describes the background history of the refugees
Where is the Garden?
It is situated off Manor Road, on the north side of the houses, past the the Village Hall.
